Studio City

Macau

With a modern Chinese menu that draws on traditional flavours and a unique dining experience, Deng Ji Restaurant was looking to establish itself as a high-end culinary venue for young, affluent diners within the Macau area.

Taking inspiration from the organic shapes and features of the restaurant architecture, including the memorable curved ceiling and feature walls, our initial lighting design solution was both elegant and sophisticated, allowing the dining experience, ambience and food to shine through.

Using collaborative direction from the interior design team, our lighting experts created an unobtrusive lighting design that minimised the use of downlights for a comfortable, personable and tranquil dining experience in line with the restaurant’s ethos.

Achieving this level of lighting aesthetic required insightful expertise and innovative design from our team of lighting designers. By locating spots and/or down-lights in-between louvres, or by using low glare down-lights in gypsum ceilings, delineation identified coves and slot details, our final lighting design was both intimate and modest, while also portraying sophistication and complexity, a balance synonymous with the menu and flavour combinations of this modern Chinese restaurant.

Project Gallery

To add an extra layer of architectural and practical lighting that did not deviate from the original design brief, our teams integrated small LED up-lights, LED Light Bars and LED strips into details at low level, giving the environment a layering and contemporary feel that it needed to stand out in this highly competitive culinary scene.

Having worked alongside the interior design team and restaurant management to a strict launch schedule, we were able to deliver this exclusive project in line with their project timelines, with 4 months from original lighting design brief to final installation.
